Dead Man's Girl

The opening night for the Rath Cinema Club will present a showing of a film with local interest. It is called Crossmaheart and it received its world premiere at the Dublin Film Festival in March 1998. Crossmaheart is the first film of one of Colin Bateman’s novels to be released (based upon his own screenplay Cycle of Violence). For its international release, it was retitled Dead Man’s Girl. Most of it was filmed on location in Rathfriland. Set against the backdrop of “the Troubles ” it is the story of a Belfast journalist who takes up a position in a local newspaper in the small rural town of Crossmaheart. Many of Rathfriland’s inhabitants will remember it being filmed and some appeared as extras. The showing will take place on Saturday 3rd February at 7.30 pm costing £5.

There will also be a short discussion after the showing to allow participants the opportunity to talk about their memories of the filming in Rathfriland.

Refreshments will be available to purchase on the night.

This movie is not suitable for children and there is a bad language warning.
