Sensory Stimulation

Children gain access to appropriate sensory stimulation and their bodies learn how to respond appropriately to the stimulation.

Enhanced Learning

Sensory rooms can enhance learning through occupational therapy (OT) or adult-directed play, which engages different areas of the brain, leading to improved information retention.

Tactile Improvements

Time in a sensory room helps children improve their visual, auditory, and tactile processing, as well as fine and gross motor skills.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THE SENSORY ROOM UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN INDUCTION BRIEFING FROM A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE.  YOU WILL THEN BE ISSUED WITH A FOB TO ALLOW YOU TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE SENSORY ROOM WHEN YOU BOOK IT. INDUCTION BRIEFINGS TAKE PLACE EVERY SATURDAY MORNING 11.00 AM (ON APPOINTMENT).

PLEASE EMAIL: rathfrilandregeneration@outlook.com for further information.

The space is designed to offer a relaxing and stimulating environment for children with special needs.

It is available to be booked for hourly sessions by individual families or with support through your health worker.

Challenge

The project was  two and a half years in the making from the initial expression of interest to finally opening the doors to the public. The equipment was purchased as part of a grant awarded from the ABC Borough Council’s Peace IV Re-imaging Programme. A project supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). We hope this facility contributes to a shared space within the town. We acknowledge the generous support received from BT branch staff led by Laura Caughey their manager who kindly refurbished the interior of the room with appropriate electrical fixtures and fittings. We believe that this space can be a vehicle for strengthening community cohesion and good relations among all its residents.

Value

We believe an annual contribution of £10 per household is good value for use of the facility. This is to cover basic running costs such as heat, light and cleaning. Bookings can then be made online so that we can identify need and ensure that everyone has equal access to the room at a time that suits them. The fee will be payable at registration. One off  sessions are bookable at the costs of £5 per child.

Group Rates

Statutory, or private sector organisations can make bookings for their clients or to run programmes when the room is available at £5 per child per visit with the same annual contribution of £10. Contact the committee on rathfrilandregeneration@outlook.com for group rates.

Induction sessions are set every Saturday at 11.00 for new users. If you do not have a fob yet please collect one any Saturday between 11-12 noon.
