All of the committee members are volunteers. It is a very rewarding experience to give something back to the community. We meet formally on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7.30 pm. We meet informally most Saturday mornings to carry out practical tasks. We have many roles that you may want to help with from public relations, drafting funding applications, and maintaining a social media presence to practical work with groups and classes, surveying the needs of the community, or capturing video footage.
Engage with the wider community and offer spaces to hold meetings, workshops or training programmes for young and old
Facilitate a range of classes where people can participate for pleasure or to gain qualifications
Reduce social isolation by providing a place where people can meet, learn and develop friendships based on common interests.

I am Catherine and my role with the Regen involves general secretarial duties, social media, and event organisation.
I have been running a small B&B business in Rathfriland for the last 4 years after a 30-year career in Corporate Sales and Marketing.
I grew up in Rathfriland and I joined the Regeneration Group 4 years ago as I am passionate about helping to transform Rathfriland into a thriving community for everyone to live.

I support the group using my Information Technology skills; in addition, I am also a “Dogs Body” who is willing to offer his support in any area where I am not the expert!
When I am not volunteering, I am the GCSE Mathematics Coordinator & Essential Skills Numeracy Lecturer in the School of Performing & Creative Arts at South Eastern Regional College.
I am also the co-owner and proprietor (with my wife Valerie) of “Scott’s Place”, a Mourne Mountain View, 4 Star Self-catering Holiday Apartment on the outskirts of Rathfriland.
