Whiskey Before Breakfast was formed in 2004 as a three-piece playing in their local pub in Rathfriland. They were soon joined by Mal on the fiddle and Keely on percussion and continued to play a mix of Irish Traditional, bluegrass, country, and folk in local venues. In 2019, after significant investment in new equipment, the band moved from strictly trad and folk to a broad eclectic mix of all genres with the Whiskey Before Breakfast essence still in place. The band has been playing in various venues across N Ireland from Ballycastle to Banbridge and Killinchy to Kilkeel in pubs and clubs, private parties, and weddings.

Whiskey Before Breakfast is now a fully-fledged 5 piece band playing a range of instruments such as guitar, mandolin, double bass, and percussion.
